Alongside my experiments with creating realistic landscapes, I’ve been playing with ways to process more fantastical landscapes. Below is my interpretation of Urithiru from Brandon Sanderson’s excellent Stormlight Archive books.
Here are a few more fantastical worlds. To create these, I render out several ‘passes’ of the 3D work, separating light, shadow, colours and more. I am then free to process these individually as well as add additional textures.
